The Importance of Christians Staying Engaged in the Fight for America

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice:

but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”

Proverbs 29:2

All throughout Scripture you will find God’s people being in a constant state of distress over the direction of their nation’s leaders. You find great spiritual leaders that led them spiritually as well as great kingdom leaders that kept their nation safe as well as their freedom to serve God. Then you would find other leaders who were not looking out for the people’s best interest causing bondage to the nation. Over and over again you find this cycle with God’s people.

God also used spiritual, political leaders who saved the children of Israel time and time again. A few to name would be Moses, Joshua, Caleb, the judges, Esther, Mordecai, Nehemiah, King Saul, King David, Joseph, and others. God has always used His people in a way to save nations from tyranny and the advancement of true freedom.

I am so thankful that I am an American! I am thankful that our nation was founded upon principles from the Word of God and was founded as a Christian nation. I want to encourage you that time is not over for America. All we need is a few people to become serious about the direction our nation is headed. God will hear the prayer of one person, and God can change the state of our nation with one person. Let me also say that God desires to prosper our country. I do not think the National debt pleases the Lord. The Lord does not intend for America to be in bondage to other nations. (This goes for all nations; God is no respecter of persons.)

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God,

to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day,

that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:”

Deuteronomy 28:1

God promises to bless us as a nation if we will seek Him. The Bible says that He will teach us the fear of the Lord. You may say, “What can I do for my nation?” “I’m just one person, and have no political involvement.” Can I ask in response, “What is your desire?” “Do you have a desire to see the direction of our nation changed?” There is something that everyone can do!

  1. Consider your personal spiritual condition. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  (II Chronicles 7:14)
  2. Pray for your political leaders in office on a state and national level. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (I Timothy 2:1-4)
  3. Ask God for wisdom in how you can be an encouragement to your political leaders. Let them know you are praying for them (if you are), send them cards, bring them to lunch, etc…
  4. Do not only pray, but HELP WORK!!!!!!! The Bible says that our faith is shown by our works.
  5. Be involved in campaigning for ones who are running for office who stand for Christian principles and who have the agenda of adhering to the principles our nation was founded upon.
  6. If possible, volunteer to work the polls.
  7. VOTE!
  8. Instead of being quick to be negative of the ones who are elected to an office, find ways to be thankful for them and the position they uphold.
  9. Teach your family real American history and the sacrifices that have been made for our country.
  10. Teach your family about respecting the flag.
